SATURDAY, JULY 10
Depart for Zurich
􀁺 Meet your delegation and board your international overnight flight to Europe.
SUNDAY, JULY 11
Lenzerheide, Switzerland
􀁺 Welcome to Europe! After arrival at the airport your Delegation Manager and coach
driver will greet you!
􀁺 Welcome to Zurich - your Delegation Manager will take you on an exploration of
Switzerland's most popular city. Along the way, see how many of Zurich's 1,300
fountains you can spot!
􀁺 A representative from the village council will welcome you in the alpine community of
Lenzerheide.
􀁺 Allegra, co vaia? This will no longer be an undecipherable sentence in a foreign
language. A brief lesson will give you a look at the fourth official language of
Switzerland, which is also one of the oldest surviving languages in the world.
􀁺 After dinner, set out again for a short hike. Grab a torch and explore the surrounding
forest with a local guide.
MONDAY, JULY 12
Lenzerheide, Switzerland
􀁺 Take part in some friendly competition based on the sport of orienteering. Answer
questions about the Rhaeto-Romance history of Lenzerheide based on the hints you
will find on each of the way points. It’s a great way to learn about local culture.
􀁺 Board a chairlift and ascend the Piz Scalottas!
􀁺 Enjoy the beautiful view on top of the mountain when you explore the area during a
hike.
􀁺 In the afternoon visit the church of Mistail and the river Albula with a local guide.
􀁺 Take some time together to learn about your upcoming home stay. Ask questions and
set expectations for the days you will be with your home stay family.
TUESDAY, JULY 13
Lenzerheide, Switzerland
􀁺 Have a great day as you go rafting on the Rhine River! The various gorges offer
fascinating trips on one of the most exciting and beautiful rafting rivers in Europe.
􀁺 Enjoy some free time in Lenzerheide!
􀁺 Today you will have special dinner entertainment: A group of local musicians will give
you a better understanding of the living culture of Graubuenden.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 14
Freiburg, Germany
􀁺 Discover Lucerne, a city in the heart of Switzerland situated on a lake and surrounded
by high mountains!
􀁺 Join in an educational meeting and learn how the famous German Cuckoo Clocks are
made. Afterwards visit a glass factory.
THURSDAY, JULY 15
Home Stay, Germany
􀁺 Take part in an environmental service project at a river or park in Freiburg.
􀁺 Today you will meet your home stay family and be welcomed into your new European
home!
FRIDAY, JULY 16
Home Stay, Germany
􀁺 Today will be spent with your home stay family experiencing European home life.
SATURDAY, JULY 17
Home Stay, Germany
􀁺 Today will be the last day you spend with your home stay family. Be sure to let them
know how much you appreciate their hospitality! Write a thank you note to leave with
them or to mail the next day!
SUNDAY, JULY 18
Heidelberg, Germany
􀁺 Say goodbye to your home stay family and rejoin your delegation!
􀁺 Continue with an exploration of Heidelberg by way of a City Quest. You'll get to see the
University, the Old Bridge and the historic center of this enchanting town.
􀁺 Encounter the graceful movements of the impressive birds of prey as you visit a falcon
show on the hill above the old town of Heidelberg.
MONDAY, JULY 19
Koblenz, Germany
􀁺 Have fun and enjoy some free time at the local swimming pool!
􀁺 Enjoy a short walk with your delegation manager through the lovely town of
Ruedesheim!
􀁺 Continue your day with a cruise on the Rhine River. The Rhine is one of the most
important waterways in Germany and is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your
cruise will lead you past small castles and the famous Lorelei.
TUESDAY, JULY 20
Utrecht, Netherlands
􀁺 Enjoy the wonderful city of Cologne with your Delegation Manager. A UNESCO World
Heritage site since 1996, you'll see the great Cathedral, Cologne's famous landmark.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 21
Amsterdam, Netherlands
􀁺 Learn about two Dutch specialties. You will see how the famous Dutch clogs are carved
and watch a demonstration of cheese making.
􀁺 Take part in an educational meeting about Anne Frank and her family who hid from the
Nazis during WWII.
􀁺 Discover the canals and bridges of Amsterdam with your Delegation Manager.
􀁺 Explore the lively city of Amsterdam during a canal cruise.
THURSDAY, JULY 22
Bruges, Belgium
􀁺 View the International Court of Justice, the main judicial body of the United Nations.
􀁺 View Kinderdijk, a famous 17th century Dutch heritage windmill park. Explore this
UNESCO World Heritage park by bicycle.
FRIDAY, JULY 23
Paris, France
􀁺 Explore the historical city of Bruges by horse and carriage. Known as "the Venice of the
North" the ornate center of Bruges has changed very little in the last 500 years. The
Historic Center of Bruges is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
􀁺 See a demonstration of how the famous Belgian chocolates are made. You will get the
opportunity to try these delicious sweets!
􀁺The Irma Lace shop continues the Bruges tradition of selling antique handmade laces.
See their collection and a demonstration of this deeply-rooted handcraft.
􀁺 Witness the Menin Gate Memorial; it’s inscribed with the names of 55,000 soldiers who
fought and died in WWI.
􀁺 Learn about the horrors of WWI in the "In Flanders Fields Museum". Opened in 1998,
the museum is as devoted to the promotion of peace as it is to the remembrance of
war.
SATURDAY, JULY 24
Paris, France
􀁺 Voila Paris! A French guide will now join you for an orientation of the city Ernest
Hemingway called "a moveable feast."
􀁺 Visit the historic Montmartre area, a haven for artists and writers before WWI. Marvel at
the white Basilique du Sacre Coeur, which is the second highest point in Paris. Take
some time to discover this area's treasures in small groups.
􀁺 Explore the magnificent Chateau de Versailles, a UNESCO World Heritage site, on
your own. Built during the reign of Louis XIV, the Sun King, it was the seat of the royal
court from 1682 to 1789, when the French Revolution put an end to the monarchy.
SUNDAY, JULY 25
Paris, France
􀁺 Enjoy a guided exploration of one of the most important art collections in the world, the
famous Musee du Louvre. You will visit the principal parts of the museum - including a
look at Leonardo's masterpiece, Mona Lisa.
􀁺 Admire a dazzling view of Paris! There's only one place to go: take the elevator up to
the top of the Eiffel Tower (899 feet) which was built for the 1889 World's Fair to
commemorate the French Revolution.
MONDAY, JULY 26
Overnight ferry to Portsmouth, Great Britain
􀁺 After a warm welcome from the mayor of Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, you have the unique
opportunity to meet a witness from WWII. See the beaches where the Americans
landed on the morning of June 6, ultimately achieving the liberation of France.
􀁺 Visit the Normandy American Cemetery, which is the last resting place of 9,387 young
soldiers who were killed in 1944 during the Battle of Normandy.
􀁺 Visit the Memorial Museum in Caen, whose mission is to remember the operation of the
6th of June 1944, the causes of the 1939-45 conflict, and its multiple consequences.
Furthermore, see an exhibition about the Cold War and peace perspectives in the world
􀁺 Board your ferry from Caen to Portsmouth, England.
TUESDAY, JULY 27
London, Great Britain
􀁺 Visit Runnymede and see the Memorial given to the people of America in memory of
President John F. Kennedy.
􀁺 Visit Hampton Court Palace, the beautiful and historic home of King Henry VIII.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 28
London, Great Britain
􀁺 A British guide will join you for a full day orientation through London. See the city's most
important historic sites.
􀁺 Experience London's premier attraction, the London Eye. Don't forget your cameras for
fantastic views!
􀁺 See the colorful and musical Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace,
the residence and office of Britain's monarchs since 1837.
􀁺 Visit the Tower of London, home of the stunning Crown Jewels. Just try to take your
eyes off those dazzling gems! The Tower has been recognized as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site since 1988.
􀁺 Attend an educational parliamentary briefing with a British (MP) Member of Parliament.
􀁺 Enjoy one of London's great musical shows in the heart of the West End.
THURSDAY, JULY 29
Depart from London for the United States
􀁺 Say goodbye to Europe! Have a nice flight back home!
